Her children have grown up
She’s so proud of them
She has grown up too
Stepping out from her shell
The early days were hard
A depressing phase
Her only comfort was God
Giving all she had—praise
Her children ostracised
Scorned even by family
They worried about mother
Her name had been sullied
What life is this?
Has God forgotten me?
She hoped and she prayed
To one day be free
Then her big break came
She flew far away
This new land was better
Finally! A brighter day
She toiled day and night
Minding her children back home
Their lives had improved
Not just living in hope
She moves differently now
With a new lease on life
Her children and grandchildren
Are living happily—they thrive
Those who knew her back then
Look on amazed, some befuddled
That this once broken woman
Is still here, and unshackled
