Dark Brown

Its shade—dark brown, like cocoa

The tone even, just one

Beholders in awe or horror

Of the skin that I have on

Some beiges feel superior

Yet tan to get this tone

But for them it’s unattainable

They can’t achieve my own

They mock me, say I’m inferior

They say dark brown is ugly

But their hatred hints at jealousy

Deep down, they think it’s lovely
